Polocrosse demands a rare combination of horsemanship, teamwork and precision. Riders maneuver horses at speed, collect a ball with netted racquets and create scoring opportunities through passes and movement. For a newcomer, the spectacle is immediate. For those who stay and watch closely, the tactics become equally compelling.
Major League Polocrosse is building a professional platform in the United States so that athletes and audiences can follow the sport through recognizable state teams, consistent competition, and a clear calendar. The ambition is not to replace the sport’s traditions. It is to create a stage where those traditions can reach people outside the existing equestrian community.
The planned league features eight state teams, centralized competition standards, and home and away matches. The objective is a credible regular season that makes each team's home market a destination and every away match a reason to follow the standings. An effective league needs much more than a logo: facilities, athletes, horse welfare, media coverage and reliable operations must all work together.
The partnership between horse and rider is the defining feature of polocrosse. Suitable footing, veterinary supervision, conditioning, recovery and travel planning are essential components of a responsible competition. MLP is developing regional horse facility partnerships and coordinated horse management rather than treating horse logistics as an afterthought.
MLP is planning an invitational and promotional exhibitions in 2027 ahead of an intended inaugural regular season in 2028. Dates and locations will become official only when the league confirms them. Supporters can follow the founding states and upcoming events through the official league website.
